Happy End
The determination, motivation and stubborn efforts of the two Paramedics
of MDA, are at the core of the miraculous recovery of a seriously wounded
soldier. On October 17, Dr. Amin Zeidan and the paramedics were on a routine
call in Gillo when they received the news: Shimon Yochana, a 19 year old
soldier, was shot in the chest. The MDA team rushed to the scene, and
just refused to give up!! They kept trying, dispensing every possible
care to overcome what seemed a certain death. MDA transferred him to the
Hadassah Hospital trauma unit. The MDA Paramedics,Ouzi Slok and Moshiko
Elbaz, kept trying to save him, inspired by a tiny "beeping"
sound, coming from his heart. Their obstinate determination and prompt
response (4 Minutes) did make a difference.Six weeks later, Shimon Yochana
was having an emotional but happy chat with his rescuers. He is alive!

A Car Loaded with Explosives..
Thursday, November 2nd, 3pm, in the very heart of Jerusalem, on a very
busy shopping day, the outdoor Mahane Yehudah Market was the stage of
a fatal Bomb blast (a car loaded with explosives). Blood was everywhere...
Magen David Adom�s rescue squads rushed to the scene. With the �historic
expertise� acquired through much experience, MDA is ready to help the
victims, administering emergency care and evacuating the survivors to
the hospital. 2casualties,dozens injured.. picture shown on left
Light at the End of the Tunnel...
In spite of the violence erupting and the difficult circumstances, MDA
is still on the road. It is often challenging, to say the least.. On December
6, MDA responded to a call in Bitar community. A pregnant resident, Sarah
Weinberg, started going into labor. She was rushed to the hospital, but
at the crossing just before �the tunnel road�, stones were thrown at the
ambulance. The front window was smashed. This could have been just a small
delay but.. the woman kneeled, and with the assistance of the paramedics
on board, successfully delivered her baby. The child made his entrance
into the world, despite the savage attack on the ambulance, and now he
and his happy mother are doing fine picture shown on left.
Blast in the Heart of
Hadera
November 22nd; An infernal explosion shattered a crowded
bus and projected its debris toward the store windows. Within minutes,
Magen David Adom had 10 Ambulances, 4 MCU and 2 mobile First-Aid units,
rushing to the scene, dispensing medical assistance and evacuating the
victims to nearby hospitals. 2 casualties, 60 wounded, 6 severely.
