Its Taba all over again without any penalty imposed on the Arabs for violating Oslo and visiting Israel with hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries. In fact they have sacrificed Ariel, which Barak never did and allowed some return of refugees just as Barak did.

But why worry since they are not in power? Worry because they have powerful allies.

Essentially this is the Roadmap backed by the Quartet without the requirement that the Palestinians dismantle their terror infrastructure. It brings to an end any hopes that the Roadmap could have been finessed to get a better deal on land, Jerusalem and refugees. Essentially they have taken Israel to its bottom line. It brings to an end the Israel position of no negotiations while terror continues. Rest assured that it will be backed by the US, who didnt want Israel to keep Ariel and wanted Labour in the government and who wouldnt take the right of return off the table. It will assure Bush of re-election.

It is being mailed directly to all Israelis probably with a referendum on the deal although this hasnt been mentioned yet. The conspirators are attempting to bypass the government of Israel and to go directly to the people. There will be an enormous media blitz in favour of the deal with the panacea of peace in our time being offered. Peace with a bad deal is better than no peace and no deal. For war weary Israelis, this may be the preferred option.

Israel should not accept this deal.

If they want Israel to abandon Ariel then the Palestinians must abandon Qalqilya, which has about the same population. This should include appropriate compensation to each resident being uprooted according to the value of their real estate. It would serve the purpose of widening Israels girth at its most narrow and straightening out the border.

Israel should retain sovereignty of the Temple Mount and the Arabs be given a 100 year lease of the Al Aqsa Mosque. I agree that the Arab sections of Jerusalem should be ceded because it will improve out demographics.

If we can cede some of the Galilee with its predominantly Arab population with land in exchange, that should also be done to improve demographics.

Now heres the kicker. We should seal our border and not allow Arabs in without a passport. Israel should refuse to let the Arabs in to work. If they want the right to work in Israel, let them sweeten the deal. This right should be a bargaining chip.

Now the challenge for the Israeli government is how to get from here to there. How to reject the Agreement while at the same time trying to improve upon it. How to continue to insist on the PA dismantling terror infrastructure before negotiations or how do do so and at the same time negotiate. Or whether to reject the Agreement and continue with business as usual.

Of course there are those who would argue that Israel should not accept a two state solution, but I am not one of those much as I would like to keep all of Yesha, without the Arabs of course.
